I'm so glad to be back to work again. It's been a very rocky eight weeks leading up to and culminating in the move to my new home. But it was all worth it and I look forward to a new year full of artistic challenges.

Lady Josephine is the first doll to be completed in my new studio. She is 14 inches tall and dressed in a vintage cotton print.

Gertrude

The "Higgs" Style doll is so named because she is said to have been
created by a master wood turner named William Higgs.
She is one of the earliest of the so-called "Queen Anne" dolls dating to the William and Mary period circa 1690. Her painted eyes have two highlights on either side of her pupils. The "beauty marks" were actually black patches wealthy women placed upon their faces to hide smallpox scars. These later became the height of fashion.

Lillian and Sophia

Lady Lillian Hillandale, the first doll of the New Year is 29 inches tall. To give you an example of how big that is please take a look at her next to Lady Sophia, who is just under 25 inches tall. Lady Hillandale is not yet finished. She is waiting patiently for her outer garments while I finish another doll. She's not too annoyed however because besides having a wonderful agreeable disposition she's also looking forward to seeing how the new doll turns out.

Sophia is dressed all in royal purple silk. Her cape is removable.

Please check back often as I post new dolls as they're completed. If you would like to get in touch with me please email me thecameoqueen@gmail.com
